The Great Debate

Small Towns

If you are going to be in Iowa the 1st weekend of August, be sure to stop by Knierim. Pronounced "ca near um" (the K is very important to us).

You will find that a small town celebration of the past, present, and future is well, just plain fun. Have a good conversation, eat some great food, enjoy some games.

If you look closely you will be able to locate PJ, the H, the Crab and that homeless guy from South Dakota. We're not sure how he got to Iowa, but he was fun and had a great time.

I hope the Nadas don't get upset.

An Explanation

Some may wonder why there are pictures of old barns, farmsteads, cattle, horses and the occasional sheep* and nothing having to do with new things here in the Midwest. One picture should help you understand:


I find the above farmstead, with it's new "suburban" style home and huge grain bins, bloody boring. Why one would build a house on top of a hill (with nothing to look at but corn and soybean fields, face it to the north, and not plant any trees is beyond my imagination.

*sociologists and the H like sheep.
