Tea Parties

From the Macon Telegraph:

"During the Ronald Reagan years our debt went from about $85 billion to $255 billion. Not a tea party in sight — as a matter of fact, Reagan is viewed by some as the greatest president of the 20th century.

When Bush 41 took the deficit up to $399 billion during his final year in office, he hailed it as a victory. The year before the deficit hit $432 billion. Still no tea parties.

The Clinton years saw the deficit morph into a $128 billion surplus. No tea parties. No dancing in the streets. No waving of signs and rejoicing that our children’s futures were secure.

That’s a good thing because the first year of George W. Bush’s presidency that surplus turned into a $133 billion deficit. We hadn’t seen nuthin’ yet."

A Note to My Right Wing Friends

If you hadn't elected an ineffective, divisive, "Legacy" twice, if you had nominated a capable, moderate presidential candidate to run with a decent vice presidential nominee, not some whack job, maybe you wouldn't be bitching today.

You did it to yourselves.

No Child Left Behind

'cept maybe in Texas. Here is the story

The survey reveals that Texas is ranked last in high school graduation rates and also found that more children in Texas had to retake kindergarten.
It's truly amazing to me that children actually have to retake kindergarten!

Dubya, ya done good.

How Much is Love Worth?

A 17 year old Texas girl was sentenced to two life sentences plus an additional twenty five years in prison Friday. She will be eligible for parole when she's 59.

She took part in the slaying of her Mother and two brothers. Her Father was wounded but has recovered. She was 16 at the time.

She and her boy friend decided killing her family was the only way they could be together after her parents wouldn't let them date.

Love isn't worth 42 years in jail.

Read the story at The Tyler Morning News.

And now for something completely different, but much more fun:

The White House has released a booklet highlighting President GW Bush's accomplishments. It's a big PDF and not worth down loading. Unless you have a 1st grader that is just learning how to read. But, be sure to your child that this is just make believe!

Bush the Revisionist

5 years ago GW Bush declared "Mission Accomplished". Dana Perino says it another way. Excuse me Dana, but I say "Bullshit!"

Deal or screwed by the media

"Incidentally, the president's support didn't do much good for the contestant either: The Iraq war vet went from banking around $140,000 to just a little over $25,000 before finally recouping some of his losses -- which makes this just the latest instance of a U.S. soldier being fucked by George Bush."

The small explosion at a Times Square military recruiting station has given the media something other than the election campaign to talk and write about today. This recruiting station cost you and I $1,000,000 for 520 feet of floor space and a bathroom. Or nearly $1925/square foot. I want one in my town!

Well, I Know Now

A clear lesson I learned in the museum was that outside forces that tend to divide people up inside their country are unbelievably counterproductive. In other words, people came from other countries — I guess you’d call them colonialists — and they pitted one group of people against another.

President Bush on why sending US troops to Darfur would be a bad idea.

Apparently he forgot all about Iraq!
