According to the CNN report

"the fireball was seen across parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. CNN affiliate WISN-TV said that people in Ohio also saw it."

I was thinking of writing a bit about Gov. Rod Blagojevich* of Illinois tonight, but the Blago went on the telle all over the country today, so there's not much I can say.

Except, that the media is just as goofy as he is! Why in the f****** world are these people letting him go on their programs and make a fool of THEM?

And it ain't even the February Sweeps period yet!

*Maybe they just like his hair. Keeps several hair dressers busy I'm sure.

As you all know, at least one or two of you, I have remained fairly balanced in my political writings on this site. Unless you are named Willard or Coulter. So, I present you with this video, not because I support Ms. Clinton anymore than Mr. Obama, but just because I like it.

This recruiting station cost you and I $1,000,000 for 520 feet of floor space and a bathroom. Or nearly $1925/square foot. I want one in my town!

It's not easy to encourage self-reliance in the era of the welfare state.

Here, in a mere 13 words (assuming "self-reliance" counts as one), is a book's worth of "conservative" hypocrisy and self-serving. First, the lofty moral intent, so beloved of missionaries and imperialists. Kristol has manfully taken it upon himself to encourage right behavior in others. No, don't bother thanking him. Virtue is its own reward.
But, as is always the case when reading neo-con prescriptions of how others should live, some vocab clarification proves helpful. Clip and save for future reference:

When billionaires get tax breaks, they receive "incentives." When working class families get food stamps, they're the perpetrators (and the victims, really) of "the welfare state." When government serves corporations, it's "a partnership." When government serves individuals, it's "socialism." When William Kristol rides his father's contacts and reputation to a sinecure insulated from any commercial or marketplace consequences -- and suffers not an ounce of setback for having been wrong about everything -- he's showing "self-reliance." When you ask that the FTC at least protect your children from poison in Chinese toys, you're encouraging "the nanny state." Clear?

Through each set of doors at the Dodge City Public Library are unassuming display cases aligned along the walls, not so much demanding your attention as politely asking you to please take a peek inside.

Unbelievable

Well, the Iowa Caucuses are over. Now, please leave us alone for the next four years! Here are a few comments on what has transpired here:

Believable: Reverend Huck worked the religious right into a Jesus fueled frenzy.

Unbelievable: Willard (aka Mitt) and Hill spent HUGE amounts of money in Iowa and got their butts whooped!

Believable: The media did their best to make the outcome what they predicted.

Unbelievable: Iowa Democrats gave a black man (1/2 anyhow) a win.

Believable: Iowans didn't listen to the media!

Unbelievable: Kansas beat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl!

Iowa Surge

After today, Iowa will be essentially empty. Oh, most of the farmers, insurance company workers, and the rest of us Iowegians will be here, but all of the journalists, political junkies, and (thank God) the presidential hopefuls will be GONE!

The political ads will be replaced by seed corn and farm chemical commercials in an attempt to keep our television and radio stations solvent until 2011.
