When in South Dakota, don't stay in Pierre, on the night before the SD legislative session begins, unless you want to wait 20 minutes to be checked into your room and not be able to find a place to sit at the bar.

You could simplify this post a lot by just saying, "When in South Dakota, don't stay."
I enjoy South Dakota. It is always nice to get out Iowa occasionally also.
I actually like western South Dakota, and the areas where it's prairie instead of corn. But I once had the misfortune to have to drive through the eastern half of both Dakotas in a day, and that is not a fun drive. There's not a whole lot to distract you.
