Birthday Party

"I want to give my children all I can, but it's not a monetary thing," Kaster says. "A $500 party doesn't mean I love them any less than if they had a $5,000 party, as long as they have a good time. And that's what it's all about."

Stephanie Kaster of Manhattan

Rear all about it here.

All of this seems rather obscene to me.

My "parties" generally were limited to one friend coming over to play (and it was always raining on my birthday) and then my grandma taking us to get pizza at Pizza Hut. So hopefully a $25 birthday party counts as much as a $500 one.

PJ and I were talking about this today. When H was younger we would go to a local motel with a pool, rent a room, let the kids that came swim, and order pizza. Maybe cost us $75.

When I was a kid, it was family. My Mom made the cake and my Dad made the ice cream.

I think we all turned out pretty good. Who can remember their 5th birthday anyhow?
