Messin' with the Missouri

The Missouri River is flooding. Floods happen. There are some things that cannot be controlled. Part of the reason is man's desire to change nature.
Prior to channelization, Schneiders said, the Missouri River was 5,000 to 10,000 feet wide at Sioux City, going by at about 2 mph. Now, it's 740 feet wide, traveling at 6 mph.
