Just west of Fort Dodge, Iowa sits a corn processing plant. Cost to build: $260,000,000. A promise to the state of Iowa and Webster county to create 100 jobs.
Investments by Webster County, Fort Dodge and the state, huge.
None of it is going to happen.

you sound surprised.
Why?
Welcome to America, land of the freeloaders, home of the bravely sending jobs somewhere else.
Sorry, that sounded bitter. But as one who lost her job because the plant moved to Mexico, you can hardly blame me.
We had something like that here in NC or SC, I forget which. A plant got lots of tax breaks and incentives to build a plant, and create jobs, and the execs literally "took the money and ran" with it. Taxpayers are demanding a refund now. I hope they get it.
Scratch
Surpried? Not at all. I live in the middle of one of the biggest agricultural welfare states. Unfortunalty, even those of us who wouldn't have seen a lot of benefits from this boondoggle, will end up paying for the infrastructure.
As for the return of money, or the people who quit good jobs to work at the plant and are now unemployed:
Everyone's screwed
