What We are Thankful for

Originally from Virginia, we are currently living near Rockwell City, Iowa.

While "1090" and I do miss the lovely scenery in the Southeast, the food here is much better and more plentiful. During the drought in the Southeast last summer it was tough to find enough to eat.

We are thankful that we get to spend the rest of our days (45-90, hopefully 90) in Iowa eating all we want. Our last ride will only be about 60 miles, much better than the 1000 from Virginia to Iowa.

We also want to thank Captain Crab for stopping by to visit* occasionally and giving us this chance to guest blog.

Horny and 1090

*unlike that cattle buyer from Tyson Foods, who looks at us as like we are in a meat market.

I also bet they are thankful that they are not turkeys.

Sorry "1090". It looks like you will be taking your last truck ride a bit sooner than "Horny".

You shouldn't eat quite so much.

I'm glad that you are respectful when you visit, unlike the Tyson guy.

Gwen: I love the livestock. Each and everyone has a different personality. You just have to spend a bit of time around them to notice. These two always come to the fence first and aren't as shy as others in the pen. There is a steer that I can't get close enough to take a good picture of. He is rather aloof.

Oh, you don't have to tell me--I'm very attuned to differences in cattle. In a herd, there's always the one bossy cow who leads the pack and gets the most food and sticks her head in the bucket while you're trying to fill it. I'm pretty sure that's how the name "Bossy" got to be so popular for cows.
